Days of Petanque: Who are you?

If it was a one in a million shot

would you still take it?

How about one in a hundred?

Or one in ten?

OK let's get real, how about 50-50?

"It depends," you say.

I don't think so.

Given the same set of circumstances,

do you think Hans, or Peter, or Holly, or Erin

would make the same choice you would?

Given the same set of circumstances

the only thing it depends on—is you.

Petanque has a way of revealing who you are.

Not who you think you are.

Not who you'd like others to think you are.

But at least one part of who you really are.

Lucky for us, we don't have to believe it.

After all, it's only a game.

Remind me that each day is a new beginning.

Tell me to face the day with courage, heart, and hope.

Help me to end each day with thanks for the grace 

in which we enjoy the miracle of the fragile 

but tenacious life we share with our family and friends.

I hope I will be strong enough

to do the same for you.
