Days of Petanque: Dave's a tough guy

I can't tell you how many times I've told Dave not to wear sandals when we do this exercise but after a couple of Modelos you can't tell him anything. The trick is to hit the front boule just right so that the front two split apart the back ball goes between his feet. We plan to perfect this and make some bets, and hopefully some profit when we go to Amelia.

I don't know about this. What's your success rate so far?

This is our first attempt. I had to get Dave a little buzzed before he'd give it a try. We'll have to see how long his ankle bones hold out. If I go long I told him it's ok to lift a foot. Does he look concerned? If he looks nervous, it breaks my concentration. Why don't you say something to distract him?

How's this?
Dave is a real tough guy,
if a boule hits him in the fly,
That'd make him sing
'bout his ding-a-ling.
His voice would be really quite high.

That's not helping. Dave close your eyes.

I think he can do it. What do you think?
It was me? I'd be wearing a cup for sure.
If he misses we could each give it a try.
Yeah, OK.
Hey Dave?
Shut the F up. He's trying to concentrate. This is not some carnival booth where everyone's a winner and you walk off with a goldfish or giant teddy bear.
OK. OK. You don't need to be so testy about it.
Testes is what I'm worried about and I don't want to be a sore loser. So please, for the love of God in heaven, don't talk, don't move, don't even breathe. Oh God. It's high.…

Is there a doctor in the house? Ice? Anyone have ice?

I'm guessing that you are reading this in order to avoid doing something else that you should be doing. Be bold. Be brave. Send me an unsubscribe then go outside and pull some weeds, do the laundry, scrub the tub, do your taxes (I notice they haven't put a pause on that), fix the caulking, sweep the cobwebs off the porch ceiling. The world is waiting for you to do stuff nobody else wants to do. So just do it.

What you have to do and the way you have to do it is incredibly simple. Whether you are willing to do it is another matter. — Peter Drucker
