Subject: Days of Petanque: Promise of Spring (meant to be broken)
Date: February 7, 2020 at 7:16:22 PM PST

Someone told me there are two kinds of people in the world: The promise makers and the promise keepers. You know which one you are. The CEO is the promise maker. Everyone else is the promise keeper. But here, in our wine country Shangri la there is a third kind, the promise breaker. The Promise of Early Spring is that third kind. She sweet talks you with days in the 70's, crystalline blue skies, blooming daffodils, and ever longer daylight hours. But do not be taken in. She bides her time with a northern born cold snap with frost in the morning and rain all day to be dealt with a slight of hand weather wand at the time of her choosing, the forecast be damned. So wear you sweaters and t-shirts while you may but do not put those winter coats and rain gear away just yet.
Sometimes I think the game is at least 50% attitude. A kind of steel ball mind game. You have to see it. Then you have to believe it.
Maggie walking. This may look like a nothing photo, but it is evidence of what I consider a medical miracle. One day she's in such pain she can hardly move and now she's ready to kick butt. And there's Peter on his OSHA approved, Cirque du Soleil high wire act. How many winemakers does it take to change a light bulb? And of course Joe showing that the club president is just an ordinary Joe and anyone who wants the job just has to ask for it.
It's just another day in Sonoma where we get to play a little petanque while the rest of the world goes bananas. We love it. We live it. And we count our blessings at the end of every day and the beginning of every morning.
Club v Club this weekend in Petaluma. Be there or be square.
Take care and be kind.

If you've finally had enough of Days of Petanque and would rather spend your time learning to play the banjo, let me know and I will remove your address from the list and then go into the closet and have a good cry. It's good to let it out once in a while. I'm no tough guy you know. Not like you know who.
