Days sans Petanque: Look me in the eye and say that

When you were kids, did you ever have staring contests? Did you win? I'd say as kids we spent an amazing amount of time on seemingly pointless activities, but not much has changed. But what is happening on the surface may not be what is going on subtext. There are struggles for dominance, establishing connections, just passing time, breaking down the loneliness and alienation in our fragmented society and just being the social animals that people are. We do what we do because of the drives that evolutions has built into our DNA. We seek pleasure and avoid pain. It seems so simple. Why is it so complicated?

I do believe in an everyday sort of magic -- the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone. ― Charles de Lint

There isn't any questioning the fact that some people enter your life, at the exact point of need, want or desire - it's sometimes a coincendence and most times fate, but whatever it is, I am certain it came to make me smile. ― Nikki Rowe

Just say it. "Unsubscribe me. Leave me alone!" And no sooner than you can click your heels three times and say "There's no place like home," you will be unsubscribed.

It is such an uncomfortable feeling to know one is a fool. ― L. Frank Baum, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
